More progress - Fishing 210, Cooking 225
March 7, 2008
I got some time over the last couple of days to continue my leveling around Fishing and Cooking. I’m still following the WoWwiki guide, and I can tell you it’s spot on, at least for Alliance.
Observations so far:
- Be sure to buy the highest level bobber available to you and apply to your fishing pole. They really seem to help.
- The recipes that are recommended in the guide (at least the ones I’ve purchased so far) are available from the fishing goods vendor, not the town’s cook.
- When you start out, you’ll constantly be catching Cooking up with Fishing. That will quickly change my friend. It’s now taking me around 5-6 successful casts to get one level of Fishing.
- At level 75 the guide tells you to fish in the river east of Southshore for Bristle Whisker Catfish. Fishing there I got about a 60/40 mix of Catfish along with those Longjaw Mud Snappers. The next step is to move to the ponds outside of Stromgarde Keep. Fishing there all I got were Bristle Whisker Catfish and Mithril Head Trout. So it seems as if you could move directly to Stromgarde at level 75 and bypass catching all those Longjaws. I’m just not sure if your success rate would be as high as you might have trouble at that level catching the Trouts.
- The raw fish seem to sell higher on the Auction House than the cooked fish. I’m not sure if this means others are buying the fish to level Cooking or what - but selling your excess fish uncooked appears to make you a bit more money in the long run.
- Every once in a while you catch a 17 Pound Catfish. Not sure why, but this baby went for almost 3G on my server. All the other X Pound Catfish I caught all sold for under a gold. So if you catch one, be sure not to underlist it.
So soon I’ll be at 225 on both professions and off to do my quests to get my Artisan levels.
