WoWhead item tooltips FTW!!!
Thanks to Blog Azeroth (Phaelia in particular for starting the thread), and this short tutorial on WoWhead. I followed the one step (yes one step - and it’s a copy and paste), and it worked like a charm. It really is that simple.
There are other options. But it’s hard to consider a plugin when this javascript snippet, supported by one of the most popular WoW databases out there, works so well and is so simple to install, as long as you are self-hosted. Sorry, Wordpress.com users. The best part is since it’s javascript added to your template file, it will immediately add tooltip functionality to all your existing WoWhead item links. Since Itemstats requires bracketed commands before and after an item, you would have to go back and update every item link in every previous post if you wanted retroactive tooltip functionality.

(Note that I am not using color-coding for item rarity, although that can be done just about as easily. Many bloggers report issues with items of white rarity washing out on light colored blogs.)
