Kaliri update

Date February 18, 2008

I had a chance to try out the “tactic” I mentioned in my previous post, and I’m even more confused now.

As we remember when we first got flight form, you cannot cast flight form while in combat.  So when I re-tested my theory after one of the Kaliri aggro’d on me, I simply fell to my death as I was not allowed to shift back into flight form.  That all makes sense.

It does not explain, however, why I was sucessful two time previously with this.  I’m certainly not going to spend a whole lot of time plummeting to my death to test this out, but if anyone has any luck or further observations on this, please leave a comment.

I may be wrong, but isn’t this more related to the bug where Kaliri can’t chase people vertically? In which case the shift out of flight form is merely a trigger for vertical movement, or death plummet in your case. :)

Incidentally, I believe they are fixing that particular bug in the 2.4.

That would make a lot of sense Moar (or MHPTJ). I guiess I always think of “vertically” as up, not up AND down. I’m still just confused as to why it worked twice in a row the first time I did it.

I guess it won’t matter with the new patch anyway…

As to why it worked a couple of times and not others, my first guess would be lag. I’m not sure where you’re playing from or how laggy your connection is, but occasionally it takes a bit longer to drop out of combat and even from a good height a half second could make the difference between life and death.

Is their any particular reason to want to avoid them? They cant knock you out of flight form and dont hit that hard. I just fly around doing bombing till they tether.

It might be possible to get aggro drop out of flight form fall far enough away that you lose aggro and then change back, that might have been what happen the first 2 times.

Ngita - other then they are annoying as hell, no particular reason. I generally take the same approach as you.

Druidoff - It’s possible, only the first few times it worked it seemed like they broke off immediately after leaving flight form, not after a drop. Still haven’t been able to duplicate, so maybe it was just a fluke.

Onthe 2.4, you won’t be able to avoid them flying vertically.

But…. If you’re crit immune, you won’t get knocked down. I always wear my tanking set while flying over skettis.

You can see me followed by a couple of giant kaliris while I keep bombing eggs ;)

The extra benefit is that you have huge damage reduction, nice dodge chance and loads of HP, so you won’t even have to stop to heal yourself before they go back to their flying path.

BoatsUK - agree on all your points.

My issue still is just they are annoying as hell. Anything I can find to get rid of them quicker is something I was going to look into.

For now, I’m living with them also.
